It is easy to apply. Download the application below or see a college counselor, athletic director, or running coach at your local high school (public or private). Write an essay of 200 -300 words covering “… how running has affected your life …” along with other pertinent factors like the physical and mental challenges and add in 100 words or less on “…. why BIRR should consider you for a need-based scholarship…”. Neatly complete the application and then postmark it by Thursday, April 12, 2012 to the BIRR.

In just about the time it takes to run a marathon, a student could complete the entire process and just think – $1,000 to use at a school of their choice – 4 year, 2 year, or a technical/trade school.

P L E A S E - tell your fellow runners, relatives, and neighbors who may have a high school student in their family or know of a deserving student to apply for this scholarship.

One male and one female high school student will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship at the annual “BIRR Scholarship Run” to be held at Coconut Island - date and time TBD. Please attend this run to celebrate this occasion, have fun, and celebrate a healthy lifestyle.
